Mutton Curry Recipe
Mutton curry is a very tasty, aromatic non-vegetarian dish. It is very spicy, hot in taste and could be preferred for lunch as well dinner. The gravy of mutton curry tastes equally good with both chapattis and rice. Though there are lot of mutton curry recipes but today we will be discussing the most simple way to prepare mutton curry. It’s simple and easy to cook mutton curry recipe but when it comes to taste there is no compromise.
Ingredients For Mutton Curry Recipe
- Mutton : 1 kilogram
- Onion : 750 grams (finely chopped)
- Garlic : 1 and a half (paste)
- Ginger : 2 inches (paste)
- Cumin Powder : 1 teaspoon
- Black Pepper Powder : 1/2 teaspoon
- Turmeric Powder : 1/2 teaspoon
- Red Chili Powder: 1 teaspoon (as per taste)
- Garam Masala Powder: 1 teaspoon
- Meat Masala Powder : 1 tablespoon
- Salt : 1 teaspoon or as per taste
- Oil : As Required
Whole Spices
- Bay Leaves : 2
- Cumin Seeds : 1/2 teaspoon
- Black Pepper : 8-10
- Red Chili : 3-5
- Garlic : 5-7 pieces
- Black Cardamom : 2
- Green Cardamom : 3
- Cinnamon : 2 sticks
Preparation Time : 10 minutes
Cooking Time : 40 minutes
Total Time : 50 minutes
Serves : 4-6 people
How to make Mutton Curry
- First of all we would take the mutton in a bowl and wash it property 2-3 times. And then squeeze out the extra water from it.
- Now take a pressure cooker and place it on gas stove. Pour oil and switch the stove on. When oil gets heated, put bay leaves, cumin seeds, black pepper seeds and all other whole spices and fry it for 30 seconds to 1 minute
- Once done, put the finely chopped onions in it and fry. Once the onions get pinkish, add ginger garlic paste and fry it.
- After this put mutton, turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt and fry it properly for around 2 minutes.
- Then pour the remaining powdered spices into it and fry it till it starts giving aromatic spell of spices.
- When the mutton is fried properly, and all the oil of onions has dried up and spices also start separating from oil, pour 2 cups water into it and put the lid of pressure cooker.
- Wait for 2-3 whistles. After this switch off the stove and take out the mutton once the pressure is released from the cooker. Mutton Curry is ready to be served.
