Drumstick Curry Recipe

Today we will be preparing drumstick curry in a very simple way and will also using potatoes in it, it is option and could be skipped. This drumstick curry recipe is simple, easy to cook and less time consuming but it is equally tasty. So lets begin...

Ingredients Required For Drumstick Curry Recipe

  • Drumsticks : 150 grams (peeled and chopped into 2 inch pieces)
  • Potatoes : 2 (medium sized peeled and chopped in small pieces)
  • Onion : 1 (sliced longitudinally into fine pieces)
  • Green Chili : 2 (finely chopped or paste)
  • Garlic Paste : 1 teaspoon
  • Ginger Paste : 1 teaspoon
  • Tomatoes : 2 (medium sized finely chopped)
  • Cumin Seeds : 1/2 teaspoon
  • Turmeric Powder : 1/2 teaspoon
  • Red Chili Powder : 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin Powder : 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander Powder : 1 teaspoon
  • Salt : As per taste
  • Garam Masala Powder : 1/2 teaspoon
  • Coriander Leaves : 2 teaspoon (finely chopped)
  • Oil : 5 tablespoon
Preparation Time : 10 minutes
Cooking Time : 30 minutes
Total Time : 40 minutes
Serves : 4-5 persons 

How To Make Drumstick Curry 

  1. First of all take the peeled and chopped drumsticks and potatoes and wash them properly
  2. Put a cauldron (kadai) on stove and pour 3 tablespoon of oil in it, heat the oil
  3. Once the oil is heated, fry the potatoes in it till it turns brown, once done take it out in a plate and now, fry the drumsticks in it
  4. When both the potatoes and drumsticks are fried, put them in a plate and add 2 tablespoon more oil in the same cauldron (kadai) and heat oil
  5. When the oil is heated add cumin seeds in it and fry it, then add ginger, garlic paste and the finely chopped green chilies in it and fry it for 2 minutes
  6. Now we will add turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder and will again fry it for 2-3 minutes. After frying the spices, add finely chopped tomatoes in it, mix well and cook it for 4-5 minutes on low to medium flame
  7. When tomatoes are cooked properly add 1 cup water in it and let the gravy boil
  8. Once it starts boiling properly add the fried drumsticks and potatoes in it and also add salt as per taste, mix them well and cook it for 7-8minutes on low flame or cook till potatoes are cooked well 
  9. Keep stirring it in between and check if potatoes are cooked
  10. When potatoes are cooked properly in the gravy add 1/2 teaspoon garam masala and finely chopped coriander leaves in the gravy and cook it for another 1-2 minutes
  11. Now our drumstick curry recipe is ready to be served
