Chocolate Modak

Modak is a dish that is considered to be favorite of Lord Ganesha. It is very popular in Maharashtra and other parts of India. And is prepared almost in every home during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival. Modak is basically a sweet dish that is prepared using different ingredients and thus there are several varieties of Modaks. Today we will be preparing Chocolate Modak. 

Ingredients For Chocolate Modak Recipe 

  • Dark Chocolate : 250 grams
  • Condensed Milk : 50 grams
  • Ghee : 1 tablespoon
  • Desiccated Coconut (nariyal ka burada) : 6 tablespoons
  • Cashew : 2 tablespoon (chopped in fine pieces)
  • Almond : 2 tablespoon (chopped in fine pieces) 
  • Pista : 2 tablespoon (chopped in fine pieces)

Preparation Time : 10 minutes
Cooking Time : 20 minutes
Total Time : 30 minutes
Serves : 4-5 persons

How To Make Chocolate Modak 

It can be prepared by two methods
Method 1
  • First of all, we will put the chocolate in a container and then heat it on a stove so that the chocolate melts
  • Put another pan on stove on a medium flame and add ghee to it, when the ghee melts and is heated add desiccated coconut, cashew, almond, pista in it and fry it well in the ghee
  • When the dry fruits are fried, add condensed milk in it and make a thick paste
  • Once this is done add the melted chocolate and mix it well, then turn the stove off. 
  • Now make small balls using the mixture and put it in a modak mold or cam (sancha) to prepare our chocolate modaks
Method 2
  • In this we will follow the first three steps of the method 1. 
  • The take a modak mold or cam (sancha) grease it with ghee and make a layer of melted chocolate in it
  • Inside the layer add the mixture of condensed milk and dry fruits and make another layer of chocolate 
  • Close the mold or cam (sancha) and keep it in refrigerator for 1 hour. Chocolate modak is ready to be served after 1 hour
