How To Make Matar Paneer or Mutter Paneer Recipe

  1. For cooking matar paneer we will first wash and chop onion, tomatoes, ginger, garlic and green chili and make their paste. We will make different pastes of each of these, ginger garlic could be made together. At the same time we will cut paneer (cottage cheese) into small cubical pieces.
  2. Now put a kadai (cauldron) on stove and fry our paneer pieces. We will not fry it much, but only till it turns pinkish. Once done take it out and keep it in a plate.
  3. In the same kadai (cauldron) we will put oil and heat. Then we will pour the onion paste into it and fry for 2 minutes. After 2 minutes, put ginger garlic paste, green chili paste and fry it.
  4. Now we will pour tomato paste or puree in the same container and fry it for 3-4 minutes, once the tomatoes are fried well. We will add red chili, turmeric and coriander powders and add 1/4 cup water and fry it again for 1-2 minutes.
  5. After this add the cashew paste into it and fry for 2 minutes. Then switch off the gas and let the spices cool.
  6. Once spices are cooled, we will put them in a mixture jar and grid it into fine paste.
  7. Again we will heat the kadai (cauldron) and put some oil in it. After oil gets heated, put bay leaf, and whole cumin seeds and fry for a minute.
  8. Then we will add the remaining powdered spices, green peas and 2-3 cup water, cook it till the peas are cooked properly . After this add the fried paneer cubes into it. Cook for another 4-7 minutes. You can add water as per your requirement regarding consistency of gravy. Once cooked, Matar Paneer is ready to be served.
