Soya Chaap Masala Curry is a spicy vegetarian recipe. It is made using soybeans which are a rich source of protein besides other essential nutrients like vitamin B 12. Despite being spicy, it is healthy too compared to it's other spicy counterparts. We will be preparing spicy soya chaap masala curry. So lets start. 

Ingredients For Soya Chaap Masala Recipe

For Marinating Soya Chaap
  • Soya Chopsticks : 10
  • Oil : For frying
  • Curd : 1/2 cup
  • Turmeric : 1/2 teaspoon
  • Red Chili Powder : 1/2 teaspoon
  • Garam Masala Powder : 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt : 1/2 teaspoon

For Onion-Tomato Puree
  • Oil : 2 tablespoon
  • Onions : 2 sliced 
  • Tomatoes : 4 (sliced)
  • Garlic Paste : 1 teaspoon
  • Ginger Paste : 1 teaspoon

For Preparing Gravy 
  • Oil : 2 tablespoon
  • Butter or Ghee : 1 teaspoon
  • Bay leaves : 1
  • Cinnamon : 1 inch
  • Gloves : 5
  • Green Cardamom : 2
  • Black Cardamom : 1
  • Cumin Seeds: 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric Powder : 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander Powder: 1 teaspoon
  • Fenugreek : 1 teaspoon
  • Water : 1 cup

Preparation Time : 10-15  minutes
Cooking Time : 45 minutes
Total Time : 60 minutes
Serves : 5-5 persons

How To Make Soya Chaap Masala 

Deep frying and marinating soya chopsticks
  1. First of all we will properly wash the soya chopsticks and rinse it well. Then we will remove the sticks, and cut the soya chops into small pieces, because big size chops will take more time frying.
  2. Now, put a cauldron (kadai) on a stove and pour oil in it, heat it well. Once the oil is heated, put the flame on medium and fry the soya chops in oil. Deep fry it till the chops turn brown and crispy. Once done take it out on a tissue paper, so that extra oil is absorbed
  3. Put the fried soya chops into a big bowl add curd, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, salt and mix it well. Cover the bowl and leave it to rest for 30 minutes 
Prepare Onion & Tomato Puree
  1. Put a cauldron (kadai) on stove and pour two tablespoons of oil and heat it well. Once heated put ginger garlic paste in it and fry it, then add chopped onions and fry till it turns brown. 
  2. Once onion is brown, add chopped tomatoes and fry it till the tomatoes are soft and cooked. Once done let it cool and then put it in a mixer jar and grind it into a fine paste
Making Soya Chaap Masala Curry
  1. Put a cauldron (kadai) on stove, pour two tablespoon of oil and 1 teaspoon butter and heat it
  2. Once the oil and butter is heated, put bay leaves, cinnamon, cardamom, gloves and cumin seeds and fry it
  3. After frying these spices, add turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and fry it well. 
  4. Then add the onion tomato puree that we had prepared and again fry it well on medium flame. 
  5. Now we will add the marinated soya chops into the mixture and fry it for 2-3 minutes. After this add water as per requirement and let it boil for 15 minutes, till soya chops are cooked properly 
  6. Once all soya chops are cooked in the gravy, crush fenugreek leaves and sprinkle it over the preparation, mix it well. Switch off the stove, soya chaap masala curry is ready to be served
